Sir John Templeton was quoted as saying " I don't understand why people don't study success more often. I think there are two reasons; one stupidity and the other ego."

Buffett wasn't born a master investor. He was/is inspired and mentored by a number of people.

1. Ben Graham - "The Intelligent Investor' & "Security Analysis". Investing from a business perspective.
2. Philip Fisher - "Common Stocks & Uncommon Profits". Look for excellent business economics and the time to sell is never.
3. Laurence N. Bloomberg - the superior investment value of a consumer monopoly.
4. John Burr Williams - "The Theory of Investment Value". The worth of a business is what it will earn in the future.
5. Lord John Keyes - concentrated portfolios and learning one area really well and not straying from it.
6. Edgar Smith - retained earnings adding value to the business over a period of time.
7. Charlie Munger - (Buffett"s long time business partner) purchasing excellent businesses at prices that made business sense.
