[sharechat] Lesson learnt
Tony raises an interesting point. I must confess to having had my fingers
burnt. Early this year I decided that I would invest some money in the NZ
sharemarket as a supplement to my super scheme (essentially a hobby
really). I was very inexperienced and I happened to stumble across
sharechat. I remember thinking that this should be helpful and in those
early days it definitely was. Contributors such as Frank F, Ritchie, Ben,
Snoopy made useful and enlightening comments, some I even invested in (INL,
AIA, AIRVA, etc). Then along came AQL. There was a lot of comment flying
around, the share price dropped a little and I thought what the hell. So I
leapt in. Didn't buy a lot, just a few thousand, and thought great, lets
see what happens ($ signs in my eyes). Very naive in hindsight. Well, we
all know the rest of the story. The price continued to drop and drop and
drop. I bailed out on a bounce and pleased for that. I have learnt my
lesson and now I go with what I research, ignore the current gossip, and
read the contributors that I respect including RIL because, despite his
cynicism, he has been right more often than I have.
Moral to the story - Do your own research, back your own picks and live
with the consequences. Little point bemoaning fate because there won't be
any sympathy from this corner. I have enough issues to contend with myself.

PS. My one bright spot is Montana, purchased at $1.85. Don't own FFS
