Marilyn - good analogy. Talking of commodities there was some guru talking on CNN the other night about the decline in telco's - his thoughts were that copper wires, fibre optics, broadband and all those sort of things (things I don't kmow much about)were only a commodity anyway these days. Many players and a commodity only lead to intense competition (prices etc) and reduced profit expectations. That guru was saying that is how telcos should be viewed - a commidity stock! No doubt it is lot more complicated than that. In that context now that TEL is down below 600 (as many predicted) is it a good buy? Any good sound reasons (based on the present and the future) why the price should go up? Or just a speculative buy in the hope that the price might go up to where it was once? Just a thought Peter (Disc - Tempted by TEL) --- Move to a better address --- + today freemail + http://www.today.com.au ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.sharechat.co.nz/ New Zealand's home for market investors http://www.netbroker.co.nz/ Trade on Credit, Low Brokerage.
