Hi Everyone,

I've had quite a few Emails from people asking me to explain the different
features of our new Market Data Centre.

Thus, I've put together the following explanation of all the features of the
MDC for you to read.

Remember, the Market Data Centre is accessible at this URL:

http://netbroker.sharechat.co.nz/

Happy reading, and I hope you find the MDC useful for your trading and
investing.

Best Regards,

Benjamin Dutton

How to use the Market Data Centre

Section One - Market Summary

This page provides an overview of the NZSE market. Several indices are shown
to provide a view of how the market is performing.

The page also provides other market and investment information, both foreign
and domestic. Currently displayed are major Foreign Markets, other
Currencies in relation to the New Zealand dollar, New Zealand Interest
rates, and Commodities. Where possible, links are provided on the
descriptions (eg. Dow Jones) to take you to a site that contains more
detailed information.

Section Two - Quotes and Charts

This page allows you to get a Quote for a NZSE Security (a New Zealand share
price).

To get a Quote, enter the 'Security Code' (the code for a certain company -
such as 'TEL' for Telecom New Zealand) in the field provided and click the
'Go' button. For people who have registered (registration is free) the Quote
will be in 'real time' - that is, the current price on the NZSE. For people
who have not registered, the Quote is delayed by 20 minutes.

The Quote information - change, buy, sell, first, low, high - represents
what is happening to that stock 'on-market'. Volume and Value represent all
trading of the security, including off-market trades. Often shares are
traded between investors without being put to the market first - for
example, when Lion Nathan recently bought Montana shares from GPG, this was
an 'off-market trade' but the details of this trade would have been included
in Volume and Value data.

No matter where you are on the NetBroker site, you can always retrieve a
quote by entering the 'Security Code' in the field to the right of the
'Quick Quote' button and then clicking the 'Quick Quote' button. This will
take you straight to the Quote page with the security quote displayed.

Intraday Charts

When you get a Quote, you will also see two charts. These are called
intraday charts and show what has been happening to a share during the
current day. One chart is for price, the other one is for volume. Sometimes
you may see a price difference between the quote information and the chart
because the charts include both on-market and off-market trading.

The trade volume is added up by the minute, so the volumes on the chart may
not represent a single trade but could be the total volume of shares traded
in any one minute time period.

The x-axis (the horizontal line) of both charts represents time. Both charts
begin at 8:30am and end at the 'as at' time. The charts will end at 4.30pm
on normal market days but may extend beyond this time if the trading day
close is extended.

Charts

This page allows you to view the historic price and volume charts for a
selected security.

You can then select the chart period from the 'Chart Period' box to the left
of the chart and the selected period chart will be displayed automatically.
This gives you a chance to see what has been happening to a share price over
an historical time period.

Details

This page provides fundamentals on a security and details on the issuer of
the security.

All security details, except the Email and Internet Address, are provided
directly from information held at the stock exchange.

News

This page allows you to view the announcements issued for the security.

Announcements are issued by the issuer of the security and are identified by
issuer code, not security code. Therefore, it is possible that announcements
listed for a specific security will contain announcements for other
securities which are issued by the same issuer.

All announcements for the current year are displayed initially. You can
display the announcements for a previous year by selecting the required year
at the end on the list of announcements list and clicking the 'Go' button.

Click on the announcement title to view the announcement text.

Section Three - Top 40

Index

This page provides intraday capital and gross index values for the NZSE40.
The values are valid for the Market Date displayed. All values are rounded
to the nearest whole index point.

Intraday Index Chart

The intraday index chart provides a graphical representation of the capital
index movement for the current market date.

The x-axis of the chart represents time. The chart begins at 8.00am and ends
at the 'as at' time. The chart will end at 5.00pm on normal market days but
may extend beyond this time if the trading day close is extended.

Index Securities

This page provides quote information for each security in the NZSE40. The
quote information is valid for the Market Date displayed.

Section Four - News Today

This page displays announcements that have been issued so far today.
Announcements are listed in ascending order of issue time - that is, the
most recent announcement will be at the top.

You can click on the announcement heading to read the details in full. You
can also click on the security code to display the full quote for the
security.

Section Five - Security Views/Top Movers

This page provides a number different views of security performance on the
NZSE stock exchange for the market date. Each view shows the same detail for
each security. A view is selected by choosing a Sort By category and Show
sequence then clicking the show button.

The current Sort By categories provided are:

% Change

This sorts the securities by percentage change. This is the change in price
for a security due to on market trading as a percentage of the OAP.

$ Change

This sorts the securities by price change. This is the change in price for a
security due to on market trading.

Volume

This sorts the securities by volume of shares traded.

Value

This sorts the securities by value of shares traded

The current Show sequences are:

Top 20

This displays the top, or highest, 20 securities for the Sort By category
selected.

Bottom 20

This displays the bottom, or lowest, 20 securities for the Sort By category
selected.

You can click on the security code to display the full quote for each
security displayed.

Section Six - Security Tables

Equity Indices

This page provides both a capital and gross performance summary for each
NZSE index and sector. The values displayed are valid for the Market Date
displayed. All values are rounded to the nearest whole index point.

You can click on the index/sector name to display additional detail and view
the securities included in the index/sector.

Unlisted Securities

This page provides quote and trading information for all unlisted
securities. Unlisted security trades and quote changes are not included with
the live NZSE trade and quote broadcast. Therefore, trading and quote prices
for these securities are not live but are updated several times throughout
the trading day.

Because these securities are unlisted, issuer details, news and quotes
through the 'Quotes and Charts' pages are also not available. You can
however retrieve historic charts. The charts page will be displayed when you
click on the security code.

All trade information - last, high, low, volume, value and trades - relates
to the market date the security was last traded. Some of this information
may not be available for all securities depending on when it was last
traded.

Section Seven - Real-Time Quotes

This page allows you to retrieve a Quote for an NZSE Security.

The quote information - change, buy, sell, first, low, high - which is shown
represents on market trading of the security. Volume and Value represents
all trading of the security, including off market.

Section Eight - Watch List

Today's View

A 'Watch List' is a list of securities which you have an interest in or are
watching, and this page provides you with a summary quote for each security
in your list. It provides a convenient means of displaying today's market
performance for securities you're interested in so you can check them all
out at a glance.

The quotes provided on this page are delayed. To get a live quote for any
individual security you can click on the Security Code.

You can put more securities ton your watch list by clicking the 'Add'
button.

You can display the Baseline View by clicking the 'Baseline' button.

You can refresh the quotes displayed on this page by clicking the 'Refresh'
button.

To the right of each security in the watch list can appear several graphics.
The purpose of each graphic is as follows:

Click the 'pencil' graphic to Edit the watch security. From the edit page
you can change watch details or Delete the security from your watch list.

The '!' graphic indicates you have an un-triggered Email price alert loaded
for this security. As soon as this price alert is triggered, it is removed
from the security and this graphic will no longer appear. You can add,
change or delete a price alert at any time using the edit page.

Add Watch

This page allows you to add a new NZSE securities to your watch list. You
can add up to 40 securities.

The minimum requirement when adding a security is the Security Code. All
other fields are optional. However, you can also choose to enter a base date
in the past, elect to have company announcements for this security emailed
to you, and set an Email price alert.

Base Date

The base date field is optional. If no date is entered then it will
automatically default to today's date, if today is a market day, or the
previous market date. If a date is entered that is earlier than the date
that we began capturing price information for the security then the base
date will be changed to the market date that we began capturing the price
information.

The watch pages provide two views - Today and Baseline. The base date is
used by the baseline view to determine the base price. The market price, at
end of trading, for the base date is compared against the current market
price of the Security to show it's change in value.

Email Announcements

By clicking this checkbox you can have company announcements for a security
emailed to you when they are issued. This can save you having to trawl
through the whole list of announcements to find ones which are relevant to
you. Announcements are delayed 20 minutes so you will not be emailed
anything until at least 20 minutes after it is issued.

Price Alerts

A price alert is an email which is sent to you when a security reaches a
certain trading price. To set up a price alert, select the condition - none,
above or below - from the drop down list and enter a price in cents. The
price alert will be triggered when the security trades at the price entered
or for the condition selected.

The available conditions are:

None
No price alert is set.
Above
When the security trades at or above the price entered.
Below
When the security trades at or below the price entered.

Baseline View

This page provides you with a baseline view for each security in your watch
list. It provides a convenient means of displaying the market performance,
since the base date, for securities you're interested in. When you add a
security to your watch list, you have the option of entering a base date
which can be any date in the past. If it is left blank then it defaults to
today's market date. The baseline view then tracks and displays the change
between the security price at the base date and the current market price.

The market price provided on this page is delayed. You can retrieve a live
quote for a specific security by clicking on the Security Code.

Section Nine - Portfolio

This page provides you with a summary of your portfolio to date. When you
add a security, you put in the Security Code, Quantity, Average Price and
Purchase Date.

This information is then presented in a format where it compares your
purchase price to the current market value. The change in value is shown by
a dollar and percentage amount. This gives you the chance to see at a
glance how your portfolio of shares is faring at today's prices.

Totals are shown for individual securities and your entire portfolio. You
can add and remove securities at any time.
