Talking about positive newspapers, while down in Invercargill recently I had
the pleasure of reading the Southland Times. What a breath of fresh air, a
future-looking paper with many positive stories (while not being naively
positive). I had half a mind to send a copy to the Dominion (which I'm used
to reading) to give them an idea how to write a good newspaper.

On another topic, With so many talented people leaving NZ it is not
surprising the country isn't doing so well, never mind the payment of
dividends or not.

The sale of FCL is a tragedy for NZ really (even though I have already made
money from it), same with the sale to overseas of many NZ companies. After
such sales, dividends go overseas and money is lost to NZ. The sale of
Corbans is another tragedy, ever tried Corbans Select Chardonnay? What a
bargain at about $20!

What was that old joke - Would the last to leave please turn off the lights?
