Problem is, as Marg puts it, we are a pessimistic lot and always looking
for something that makes us feel better - hence the bad news bit. Bad news
about others makes us feel better about our miserable lot in life !!! Not
many takers for the IPO.

Not wanting to open a can of worms or anything, but I find the media in
this country to fuel alot of the pessimism that exists. It constantly
irritates  me the way the tone of the news is delivered. Always bleating
out in the most  pessimistic and grave manner.
I don't know if the media is the chicken or the egg, but whatever
the effect I don't think its power of influence can be underestimated.
Just another piece of the puzzle.
hmmm, maybe I should start a "good news" newspaper. Only positive articles
presented in a positive light. "The feel good newspaper!". Any takers?  =)
