[sharechat] Announcement: ShareChat Q&A with Stephen Franks
Hi Everyone,
ShareChat is pleased to announce that Stephen Franks, ACT MP and Securities
Commission member, will hold the next live Question and Answer Conference on
ShareChat.
Mr Franks will be answering questions in the live Internet Relay Chat room,
which is one part of the ShareChat website, on Tuesday, July 4th at 11:00am
NZST.
The focus of this Q&A Conference will be on insider trading in New Zealand.
Mr Franks will answer your questions about New Zealand's insider trading
laws, and how it affects the New Zealand Stock Exchange.
A recent National Business Review-Compaq poll found that 83% of people who
own shares think that insider trading is a problem in New Zealand. Recent
publicity surrounding former Fletcher Challenge chairman Kerry Hoggard have
not helped allay investors concerns about New Zealand's insider trading
laws.
Mr Franks' considerable experience in New Zealand's Securities Laws make him
an expert on the subject.
Stephen Franks was a partner in national law firm Chapman Tripp, and was
Chairman of the firm's National Board for two years. Mr Franks was one of
four private sector representatives on a 1991 Ministerial Group, advising
the Government's securities law reform. He has been a Council member of
Institute of Directors in New Zealand (Inc) since 1997, and was a Member of
the Securities Commission before entering Parliament. Mr Franks developed
the listed index investment product TeNZ for the New Zealand Stock Exchange,
and all other listed index funds since.
This is an excellent opportunity for investors to ask Mr Franks about
insider trading in New Zealand - do not miss this Q&A!
Best Regards,
Benjamin Dutton
