In regard to Phil's posting "Its a mystery to many how companies such as DFM
come to projections for years ahead - why not show us the process?" may I
mention that the information is available from their website.
Anyone can open an account and have access to these research reports. You
don't even have to trade with them or pay any fee to access them. When new
forecasts are made, they are also emailed to clients. What I am saying is
that they are freely available to their clients, active or not. Their recent
forecasts for high tech stocks include EPH, EFC, ADV, ITC, RNS, SPE, NGL,
and most others from NZSE. The method(s) by which they arrive at their
numbers are explained in detailed research reports. Of course one can argue
about the accuracy of these forecasts and suggest alternative/superior
methods. But we all know that forecasting the weather is easier than
forecasting the financial markets. Shareholders need to form their own
forecasts, and remain responsible for it.
