I think it would be good for us if they did go. It would almost certainly bring about an amalgamation of the NZ and australian sharemarkets, we may be heading that way soon anyway i hope. As for telecom they have behaved like a bunch of rats. When they were privatised they laid off many staff and have perhaps deliberatly let maintainance standards, service etc drop. Years of neglect are starting show through , whats telecoms response? to up and run thats what. Sure they are now in a difficult position, all sorts of terriors are now snapping at their heels, they are in danger of being overwhelmed by competition from all sides, the telecommunications sector is like some kind of gold rush and they all want a slice of telecoms action. Telecom may have some justifyable grieviences over the kiwi share, the competition may just want the profitable bits and ignore the rural areas etc but that exactly what telecom have been doing for years . Is the telecom shareprice cheap at 7.80? I wouldnt touch them with a barge pole, good riddence to them i say nick > If this proves true, then even the most pessimistic person to guess the > date for the nzse to hit 2200 will be early by a decade or so :) > > Seriously, if 28% of our market decided the grass was greener over the > tasman, a massive amount of money would follow, and I doubt the nzse > would ever really recover.
