[sharechat] Warrants - question

As a newbie to this game... I'm just learning about warrants. As I 
understand it a warrant is the right to purchase the share at a certain 
price at a certain date.(yes?)

So...just looking in the Herald I see that there are Telecom warrants at 33c 
with an exercise price of $4.25 on 29/03/01.

I can't get my head around this - if I buy a Telecom warrant at 33c now I 
can then buy an existing Telecom share at $4.25????
