Dear Nigel,
Please correct me if I am wrong:
EA Sports = Computer games = PC/Playstation
etc.
Virtual Spectator = Computer animation =
Television
So Virtual Spectator is in no direct competition
with EA Sports.

That's entirely possible, although I think I've
spent enough time in the
U.S. to have a fair idea. However, the performance of sports software - in particular the EA Sports line, which has all the big franchises - sets a fairly important benchmark for what to expect. Sure, they aren't live matches - but on the other hand, the EA Sports titles in particular are in almost every respect *far* more technically ambitious and sophisticated than VS. EA have on-line play, they have the licenses - NBA, NFL NHL, MLB, NASCAR and FIFA - and have been the leader in this kind of software since the 80's[*]. The question for VS is how to go up against a company like that, which can easily do anything VS can do and has a dominating presence in sports software. [*] Well, except for NASCAR, since Papyrus used to dominate that, but it's questionable whether Sierra can hang on much longer |
