Re: [sharechat] NZ dollar

As i have previously mentioned i am
english living in nz, and having lived in london for
years i have to say i would not swap it now.
However if i was a young new zealander i
would jump at the chance, not for the money
but for the excitment and adventure of being in
 a foreign land.
Workwise however i would rather earn significantly
less in nz than put up the the london rat race.
Also what people here dont realise is that although
earnings are much higher in london, expenses are
also much higher. Good accomadation is very expensive
and hard to find, while the daily effort of
travelling to work, initially enjoyable but after
time becomes very tedious.
I could earn double ( at least) in london than i do
here in chch but after expenses would not be much
better off and considerably more stressed.
Here i can cycle to work in ten minutes,
wear more casual clothes work in a friendlier
environment, come home to a nice house with big
section etc. In london i would be crammed on a tube
train for at least an hour a day, effectivly adding
two hours to the working day. I would have to dress
in a suit in all weathers and come home to a pokey
little flat, by the end of the day i would be smelling
of soot and pollution, be stressed and too exhausted
to spend the evening enjoying the pleasures of london,
especially when the whole process had to be repeated
the next day.
But there is so much more to do in london i hear
you say. Not really and it is all very expensive.
In chch we have international rugby and cricket
matches, good restaurants, all the latest films etc,
access to fashions, clubs etc and many things
london dosent have, ie access to top class ski fields ,
hot pools in hamner , etc etc.
If you have ever tried buying a ticket to watch
a test match in london
you will realise how lucky we are to be able to
stroll to jade stadium and watch the worlds best
 batsmen in action (other team).
To sum up i would say london is a great place to
live if you dont have to work and have a huge bankroll.
Otherwise give me chch any day.

  nick
