News round-up this morning.

-  The NZ Herald reports that Brierley is putting on hold for another four 
weeks any further talks on selling a stake in Air New Zealand to allow it to 
complete the purchase of Ansett Australia and to consider the Qantas bid.

-The Sydney Morning Herald and the Melbourne Age say that Air New Zealand 
would be forced by the respective Commerce Commissions to give up the 50% of 
Ansett Australia it bought recently if Qantas obtained a stake in AirNZ. The 
papers believed that AirNZ was unlikely to want to give up Ansett Australia.

Confused, I don't blame you. From my perspective, it still looks as if 
Singapore will get the nod over Qantas because of the threat to AIRNZ of 
having to give 100% ownership of Ansett Australia.
