In answer to this forums unpopular backing of Air
New Zealand I would like to point out:
- Warren Buffetts criticism of
airlines...has any of you ever flown in the states? Its a totally different
market, a bit like bus travel with a million different operators, very different
to NZ.
Also - nearly all good investments have
competitors, (the likes of AIA is an exception).
Air New Zealand makes most of it's money through
business class travel, something cut price travel doesn't touch.
Also I believe a large portion of ANZs recent
profit has come from Ansett AU, in which ANZ has increased its stake to 100%.
ANZs cash problems must surely be only temporary.
I note that in the domestic market Ansett NZ has
hardly ever made a profit AND when it came up for sale recently..... Qantas
wasnt interested...
Feedback welcolmed
