Hello David et al
First post to your forum
Trying to follow the interests on the opposite side of the world is
difficult and not too sure I am able to comment on your perspective or
success - but would be interested to hear. Being in the UK and having some
understanding of that market and contemplating moving to NZ and continuing
to follow that market is one thing but I struggle to at this distance to
follow your specific topics. Only a question of time I guess.
Not sure if this is on topic but - ......... I have followed for many years
a policy of following cyclical liquid value stocks - dipping in and out as
the season regularly changed on these volatile gifts. However in recent
times I have like many others punted the phenominum of net stocks in the UK
and US - but until recently have been reluctant to give up traditionals that
have performed in the short term in the past. My portfolio now contains 50%
so called UK value stocks and is declining in that direction rapidly.
How do you folk feel about investing in markets other than your own given
that it is so easy to do that nowdays.
David did invite me to have a look see - so dipping my toe in your water -
gently!!!!
Interested in your comments
Anthony

As a subscriber to some overseas BBs and also to one emailed share forum
(500+ messages per day), I have gained a tremendous insight into markets
outside NZ.

My suggestion would be to use the present forum for NZ / Australia.

Reason is that in five years there will be only one trading exchange but
with local operators and there is already considerable dual listing.

Secondly, is to have one forum for the rest. Most interest would be
US/Nasdaq and UK.

However Easdaq in Europe will become very prominent as an example of the
future.

I for one have had only limited interest in discussing UK stocks here, but
those who I have been in contact with will know that I have access to huge
data resources (most of it free) to the extent that I know more about
Vodaphone than I could ever know about Telecom. Share prices on a genuine
real time basis for UK, US, Canada and Italy are available. Easdaq is
coming.

Frankly, I would like to have similar access to US market data but it would
be too much information for one person to handle.

The splitting of these lists would allow you to avoid wasting time on the
areas that you have no interest in.

I am also an advocate of the emailed list system as you can receive postings
whenever on line and reply as appropriate.

D
