If you're looking for a good overseas investment vehicle for investing in a range of overseas equities, etc, then I don't believe you can do better than UK investment trusts. I believe they are superior to NZ domiciled unit trusts (investing overseas) as the UK Trusts are structured so that they don't pay capital gains (whereas other than passive NZ unit trusts all do). Through UK Investment Trusts there is also a much greater variety of investment options; you cannot only invest by country (or there are also straight global funds), but you can also invest by sector. An excellent site here is Trustnet, where you can get listings of all trusts available, plus 1 to 5 year performance. I'm currently invested in: Finsbury Technology Charter European Jardine Fleming Fledging Japan Flemming Asian Investment Trust Flemming Overseas Fund (this one purchased on NZSE) Henderson Electric & General Note that I'm getting far superior returns (even with brokerage taken into account) than I ever got through NZ unit Trusts which I was invested in for 8 years before completely switching over to UK Funds. Note also that all of the above trusts are concerned with achieving capital gains rather than income. The only downside at the moment is the low $NZ (although good if you've already got your money overseas!) You'll find Trustnet at: http://www.trustnet.co.uk/general/default.asp Regards ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.sharechat.co.nz/ New Zealand's home for market investors To remove yourself from this list, please us the form at http://www.sharechat.co.nz/forum.html.
