[sharechat] Frontier Oil
The big jump in Frontier today jogs my memory. Wasn’t FRO one of the
principal investments of New Zealand Petroleum?
Does anyone know what happened to the petroleum assets of NZP after Eric
Watson’s rest home assets were backed into it and it resurfaced as
Eldercare?
This was my only brush with the great one. I think that Mr Watson and myself
were the only ones to take up NZP’s rights issue. It was exciting, for a
while I actually owned 1,300,000 shares in a publicly listed company. That
certainly improved my social status amongst my friends, I can tell you.
Never mind that they were only worth 0.06 cents each.
After the reconstruction I finished up with only 26,600 shares in a rather
nondescript company (RYM is a much better bet in this sector) so I sold out,
doubling my money in the process. Thanks to my business partner Eric, as
think I can now call him.
However I don’t think I will do any more business with him, we will confine
our future relations to social intercourse; there have been too many murky
deals and I think that a lot of us little people are going to be hurt and
disillusioned before the year is out. There must be quite a few
disillusioned big people as well after today looking at the recent
performance of US Office Products (OFIS) which is still reeling after our
Eric led their southern hemisphere buying spree.
Why do the words “Judge Corp” keep popping up in my mind.
Cheers
Mike H
