Hugh and other forum participants, First I'd like to thank Hugh and everyone that has replied to the issues he has brought up for their comments. I'd also like to thank Derek for initiating the competition -- it's great that he's offered the prize out of his own pocket and is putting a little bit of fun into the forum -- judging from the amount of replies, there are many people that are willing to take the punt, and the increased participation is excellent to see. Now's perhaps a good time to bring up a couple of extra features ShareChat is about to add to the site. We are going to introduce a web based discussion group. This will cut down on the amount of Emails on the forum (aimed more at the traders among us, users will post their messages onto the web -- not through Email). We are also going to kick off interactive polls and surveys -- thus competitions like the one Derek has initiated will be possible without going through the forum. Also, please remember that if the number of Emails through the forum is too great for you, you can read all messages on the ShareChat site, and send messages to the forum without being subscribed. If you have any questions about this, or comments on what you would like to see on ShareChat, please don't hesitate to contact me directly at bendutton@sharechat.co.nz Keep up the excellent discussion, Best Regards, Benjamin Dutton Managing Director ShareChat Limited ----- Original Message ----- From: hugh webber <hugh.webber@clear.net.nz> To: <sharechat@sharechat.co.nz> Sent: Wednesday, February 02, 2000 7:21 PM Subject: [sharechat] Bubble Whipped Off or Sharechat Ripped Off? > um, I hate to be the dog in the manger and I've been very tolerant so far > but we appear to be observing a parallel phenomenon to what economists > call 'crowding out' (public taxing and spending crowding out private > investment for example). > > I refer to the 100's of messages which consist of 6 letters and 4 digits. > Um, maybe there's a > better way, such as announcing the competition and then arranging for > entries to flow privately > rather than crowding out sharechat.
