IMHO US traders are taking profits now which they earned last year. 
By doing this in January, they put off paying taxes until 2001.  Some
good buying opportunities for those with cash and nerve.  Nothing fundamental
has changed.  The interest rate rise in eb was already anticipated and
factored in, but the talking heads on TV need something to say.
